Kendrick Lamar- Good Kid, M.A.A.D City: The Review

The world of hip-hop is filled with mixtapes, underground performances and arguably the most influential component, leaks. In many regards, leaks push forward a culture that builds upon the hype of a rapper. In particular, we’re talking about Kendrick Lamar, the soulful and arousing rapper from the Land of the West. In a just a few years, Mr. Lamar has released ground-breaking mixtapes (Overly Dedicated, C4) and his best project to date: Section.80.

This time around, Kendrick is touting a partnership with Dr.Dre, a collaboration from Pharrell and a transcended sound for 2013. Good Kid, M.A.A.D City is Kendrick Lamar’s first studio album, but it’s construction displays a well-seasoned rapper who  looks to compete with the elite.

With the official release coming within the next 3 days, GKMC contains 17 tracks. However, the leak captures 15 tracks (sans: “Collect Call” and “Swimming Pools(Drank)” ). We’ll take that for now. The tracks themselves are a masterful conglomerate of triumph and tragedy that stimulate one’s musical senses.

We’re not here to dissect every single track. But we can say that you should NOT skip a single track on the LP when you purchase it. Each track was crafted with purpose by Kendrick Lamar. We’re not one make comparisons, but GKMC has that My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy feel. That should give you an idea about the body of work that Kendrick is going to unleash to the world.

Anyways, ignore the leak links and SUPPORT Kendrick Lamar.
